I’ve never been to Detroit. I hear there are a handful of creative souls breathing life into the sprawling neighborhoods again. Meghan McEwen is one them. She is the face behind the small-scale Inn, Honor & Folly, located in the oldest neighborhood of Detroit. “It’s reminiscent of the way folks used to travel: a few beds above the village pub or restaurant with a hearty breakfast.” It’s one of those passion-turned-occupation sort of dream gigs. The writer started the travel and design blog Designtripper and was totally inspired by all the independent, micro b&bs and family-owned hotels that she came across.
At Honor & Folly they’re all about supporting the local artisans with Detroit and Midwest-made goods that fill the space. The Inn hosts weekly cooking classes and all sorts of events. I want to go.
Wayfare magazine spotlights the Inn.
